Replacing a dental X-ray system involves far more than a delivery to reception. Vatech, a manufacturer of dental imaging equipment, uses Distribusha regularly for this type of work, and on this project we handled the full changeover. A new Vatech Green X was delivered and positioned, while the existing X-ray system was dismantled and taken for recycling. This was a white glove delivery, not a parcel drop, so it needed a three-man team and a careful order of work inside a treatment room that was still in use. Handling it fell to our technical courier service rather than a standard delivery run.

A medical equipment courier for dental imaging systems

Distribusha acted here as a medical equipment courier, managing a full exchange rather than one drop-off. Vatech produces Cone Beam CT (CBCT) systems, along with panoramic and cephalometric X-ray units, and we support this work right across the UK. The project came in four stages. We delivered the new Green X and dismantled the old system, then unpacked and positioned the replacement before taking the old unit for recycling. A three-man team saw every stage through.

Removing and relocating the existing X-ray machine

The old system had to be out of the room before the new one could come in, so the first task was equipment relocation, not delivery. Our team took the existing X-ray unit apart on site and split it into sections small enough to carry out safely. There is no rushing this part. Dental imaging systems are heavy and full of sensitive components, and most treatment rooms give you very little room to move. With the sections outside, we loaded them into the vehicle and later took them to a recycling centre once the rest of the job was finished.

Unpacking and positioning for medical equipment installation

Once the old machine was clear, we unloaded the new Green X, unpacked it and prepared it for medical equipment installation by Vatech’s engineer. In transit, the unit stays in its factory packaging, which keeps it safe. The moment it comes out of that packaging, the handling gets more exacting and the correct lifting points start to matter. Our team moved the unpacked machine through the entrance and corridors into the treatment room, then eased it into its final position. Reaching the postcode is the straightforward part. The last few metres into the room take the real care. We left the Green X in place and ready for the engineer to finish the installation and commissioning.

Why this was more than a two-man delivery service

A standard two man delivery service would not have covered this. We sent three, because the job ran from dismantling and removal through to unpacking, moving the machine indoors and setting it in place, all with high-value imaging equipment involved. You cannot strip out an installed X-ray system, carry the sections out of a treatment room and bring an unpacked replacement into position with a kerbside drop or a two-person lift. Moving equipment of this value through tight doorways, with its packaging already off, is where the third person and the planning before the day earn their keep.

Choosing a specialist courier for an equipment exchange

Booking delivery, removal and recycling as three separate jobs is harder to line up than handing the whole exchange to one specialist courier. Here, a single team dealt with the new machine, the old one and the disposal, so the clinic lost time to one visit instead of several. We do this for Vatech and for other clients in healthcare and industry across the UK. If you have a delivery, exchange or installation move coming up, request a quote and include the equipment details and how accessible the site is.

Expert Courier Services FAQ

White glove delivery means the courier handles far more than the drop at the door. The team unloads, unpacks, carries the goods into the room, sets them in position and clears away the packaging or the old equipment. With something like a dental X-ray system, it also covers careful handling, using the right lifting points and leaving the unit ready for the engineer.

We deliver, unpack and position the equipment and prepare it for installation. The manufacturer’s engineer then carries out the technical installation and commissioning. On this job, we left the Vatech Green X positioned and ready for that final step.

Yes. We take the existing unit apart, carry it out in sections and move it on to a recycling centre. The old and new machines are dealt with together, in one visit, instead of across two separate bookings.

We carry diagnostic and imaging systems such as CBCT, panoramic and cephalometric X-ray units, plus other medical devices and technical healthcare machinery. We do not move biological materials such as blood, organs or tissue.

Yes. A standard delivery finishes at the postcode. This is specialist technical logistics, covering dismantling, removal, unpacking, internal movement, positioning and recycling, handled by a trained team of more than one person.
