What should you consider when choosing a document courier service?
The first question you should ask if it is likely you will need the services of a document courier on a regular basis is can you see them becoming someone you could build a good working relationship with. Tip One: Do you need a same-day document courier service?
The first question to ask when needing a document delivered by a courier is when you need it delivered by. If the answer is ASAP and ideally by the end of the working day, providing the destination is reachable within a few hours, then you need a same-day document courier service. So, your first questions to ask will be about availability and ability to fulfil the brief. There are also situations where a document may also include a contract, and you require a signed copy of the contract returned immediately after signature. Do you know the difference between a 24-hour document delivery service, and same-day document delivery service?
Thos is a bit of a trick question as, in reality, they are identical. A period of day lasts for 24 hours, whether that day begins at 9 a.m. or 9 p.m. Where the confusion comes in is the ‘assumption; that ‘same day’ also means ‘on the same day’ which it doesn’t. If you think about it, if you have arranged for a document to be delivered 100 miles away and it is being picked up at 9 a.m. then of course you are right to assume the letter will be delivered on the same day. Here at Distribusha, we work on an ASAP basis, so if we collect a document for same day document delivery ay 9 a.m. we will aim to have it delivered 100 miles away within two to three hours. We don’t collect the document, return to the depot and then send it out again towards the end of the day. However, ask for a same-day document delivery when the document won’t be ready until 5 p.m. that day, and delivery is on the other side of the country, 300 miles away, unless specifically requested (e.g., the recipient is there and waiting to receive the document) we would hope you would be happy with the document being delivered the next day before 5 p.m. As a document courier, we look to be as flexible and as accommodating as possible, so with any document delivery, we will make sure we are crystal clear what the instructions are with regard to who the document is to be delivered to, and also when the document needs to be delivered by.
Tip Two: Courier services and security
While it is always prudent to check on the level of insurance offered by your document courier, it is also important to ask what will happen to your document once collected. It is always worth asking if it will be stored somewhere safe during transport and what measures will be taken to ensure it is delivered to the right person.
